View of the mountains from an ancient Moroccan Kasbah

Bohemian Travellers was created to offer sustainable, ethical tours of Morocco and from a desire to see local communities benefit directly from tourism.

We are acutely aware of the economic challenges facing much of the population of Morocco, even more so since the rise of the pandemic, and it is our firm belief that responsible travel can impact positively on the lives of those encountered on the journey.

Our trips provide a rare opportunity to meet and spend time with local people in their homes, observing and taking part in the daily activities of cooking and crafting. We will learn the techniques of basketry, weaving and pottery, try henna tattoos and a cooking class, visit the weekly souk and spend nights in the desert lost in the hypnotic rhythms of traditional musicians. It is profoundly moving to witness the deep sense of connection that emerges from these cultural exchanges.

The coast has a magic all of it’s own and we will share with you some very special gems in this extraordinary and unspoilt region of Morocco. Think white sugar cube buildings with blue framed windows and wooden doors shrouded by tumbling swathes of bougainvillea, deserted expanses of wild beach populated only by a few meandering donkeys and camels, and days spent surfing or swimming in the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Slow down and savour every moment, freshly caught fish grilled straight off the boats, psychedelic sunsets and the deep sense of peace that comes from living close to nature. The laid back surf city of Essaouira is only a 3 hour drive from Marrakech and from there the coastal road winds up to Tangier in the north or south to Immsouane, Taghazout, Agadir and beyond.

Of course, no journey to Morocco would be complete without experiencing the majesty of the imperial cities, Fez, Meknes, Marrakech and Rabat, each one listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Most of our trips start in Marrakech where we guide our guests through the labyrinthine alleyways of the ancient medina, an eye-popping explosion of colour and traditional craft. It really is a city like no other with something for everyone, from breathtaking architecture to beautiful gardens, age-old artistry to contemporary cuisine. Marrakech is undoubtedly the shopping mecca of Morocco and her glorious souks are a veritable treasure trove we never tire of exploring with our travellers.
